ORANGEBERRY
INDIVIDUAL PROJECT / UI, UX, BRANDING, VISUAL DESIGN
Orangeberry is a concept for a healthy recipe app designed to fit individual’s unique lifestyles and needs
INTRODUCTION
There are many new different lifestyles nowadays and different eating lifestyle is probably one of the big trends out in the market. I wanted to create a recipe app that is specifically dedicated for people who seeks to have a healthy eating lifestyle. I’ve seen numbers of recipe apps out in the market that provides ‘healthy’ choices as a sub-category, but I wanted to create the recipe app that provides healthy recipes along with nutrition facts and tips.
with this in mind, I arrived at a core design question:
How to design recipe app that looks and feels healthy that makes it different from traditional recipe apps out in the market?
RESEARCH AND INITIAL ASSUMPTIONS
I started by doing a bit of work to contextualize the problem. Some key considerations:
What is the value of the app?
Who is this app for? user persona
CORE VALUES OF THE APP
The app itself should speak for healthy lifestyle. I wanted this app to look healthy and feel healthy. This core value will impact all aspects of designs such as, layouts, colors and imagery. A clear characteristic will promote user to pursuit healthy lifestyle.
Ease of use and simple & clear designs. A clear and simple tool will enhance user experience and I wanted to achieve that by creating visual hierarchy of images over texts. Often times many recipe apps out in the market feel overwhelming, and I want to avoid that by having too much unorganized texts.
PERSONAS- WHO IS IT FOR?
IDEATION
I developed rough ideas around core values of the app and tried to tackle both initial goals: the app itself should speak for healthy lifestyle through simple and clean designs, and it should have ease of use. By defining MVP Objective, user stories and requirements, it helped to ideate some key elements of this app.
MVP OBJECTIVE
The app will allow users to find healthy recipes and help their cooking in most easy and productive way. This app will provide users with variety of options to promote healthy cooking and healthy eating.

PRECEDENT ANALYSIS

WIREFRAMES
I used flow chart as a guide map to create low-fidelity wireframes. As I was developing low-fidelity to High-fidelity wireframes, I constantly re-visited my initial ideations and made revisions as I was working through my design.
VISUAL DESIGN & CONCEPT
I started developing a visual language to create mood in the product as below:
Clean. Core aesthetic is clean. I focused on designing clean interfaces that focuses on high resolution images so that it speaks for branding itself.
Fresh. Colors and images need to feel fresh- represents natural food colors like fruit and veggies and I wanted this app to promote cooking by creating mood for fresh ingredients.
RESPONSIVE DESIGN & FRAMEWORKS
I designed responsive design as below: works on iphone, ipad, macbook, imac
